Marvel’s Wolverine Playtesters Have Been Impressed, Say it Looks Fantastic – Rumour

The report comes alongside rumours about a trailer for the game being slated to be showcased at an upcoming State of Play this month.

With developer Insomniac Games being quiet about the development of Marvel’s Wolverine, as well as recent rumours indicating that the studio might be ready to showcase the title with trailer soon, a new report indicates that playtesters have been impressed with the title. In a recent episode of Insider Gaming’s podcast, Tom Henderson noted that, despite delays, playtesters have found early builds of the game quite impressive.

“So, it is done. It obviously was delayed to quite a big extent,” said Henderson in the podcast. “From what I’ve managed to hear, from people working on the project, obviously, the ransomware attack and all the game leaking is one thing, but then the emotional strain that it places on people when you have all of your information leaked, like your address, social security numbers, and all that kind of stuff, is massive.”

“So that obviously delayed the game as well. But from a few playtesters I’ve been speaking to, they think the game looks fantastic. So that’s good news, and fingers crossed we get to see a release date in a couple of weeks’ time.”

Henderson also further corroborated earlier reports that a State of Play is planned for the middle of September, at which point Insomniac Games will officially unveil Marvel’s Wolverine to the world. According to Henderson, sources have told him that the title will “almost certainly” appear with a new trailer.

“I heard that there was going to be or there is going to be a State of Play towards the end of the month, and then, separately, from a person who I’ve known for years and has given me the most reliable information you can get, he then said that the Wolverine trailer is done,” he said in the podcast. “You put two and two together, it suggests that Marvel’s Wolverine trailer is done because it’s going to be at the State of Play in September. It might not be. And if it isn’t, then possibly The Game Awards. We all know that Geoff Keighley likes his big reveals. Or who knows, maybe there’s another event.”

While Insomniac Games might have been quiet about the title’s development, Sony indicated during an earnings report that the title would only come out after 2026. Along with Marvel’s Wolverine, the company also said the same thing about Naughty Dog’s sci-fi action game Intergalactic.

The last time Insomniac Games actually spoke about Marvel’s Wolverine in any capacity was back in April, when the studio said on social media that the title was still being developed, and that it would share more details about the game when it is ready to share those details.

“We’re actively working on Marvel’s Wolverine for PS5,” posted the studio on social media. “We’ll share news about the game when *we* are ready to share it. That will always be our answer. We can’t act on everything requested when things take time, resources, and the greenlight to share them.”

Marvel’s Wolverine was announced all the way back in 2021, and will be coming out on PS5 when it is finally released.
