Mass Effect 3 inspired by Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed and others- BioWare

David Silverman, marketing head of BioWare, says that while working on Mass Effect 3, the development team looked at what people liked about previous Mass Effect games, and games from other franchises like Gears, Halo, CoD, Assassin’s Creed and others, and implemented those things in Mass Effect 3.

While talking with CVG, he said: “We’ve done a lot of research about what people like about Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and other games too; what do they like about Gears Of War? Why does that game do what it does?

Same goes for Assassin’s Creed, Halo, Call Of Duty and lots of RPG games too… we’ve looked at all these games to see what’s resonating and what’s not.”

However, you need not worry that BioWare might lose their identity, or that they might become too derivative off a particular game. ” When I mention games like Gears, Assassin’s Creed or Uncharted, it’s in the guise of certain aspects,” said Silverman.

“If you had BioWare’s rich, detailed story where your choices mattered, where they could determine the future of civilisations; if you had all of that coupled with the heart-stopping action of games like Gears Of War, that’s what we’re going for.”
