In the new issue of PS3M, FIFA creative director Gary Paterson, currently working on FIFA 12, discussed a few changes the team was looking at incorporating in this year’s installment in the brilliant FIFA series.
He said he was looking at ‘matchday atmosphere’ and player background stories as two very important aspects of the game. “I think ‘matchday atmosphere’ is something we need to invest in,” he said. On the player background stories, he said, “I think the idea of creating stories throughout the year is something we’re very interested in as well.
“It’s about creating a football world you immerse yourself in, thing like, you know, the Rooney story [when he said he want to leave Man Utd and then signed a new contract]. That’s definitely interesting to us.”
He also said the gameplay is getting “harder and harder to improve on.”
He also said the team is looking at stuff players can do while the transfer window is closed. “Things to do while the transfer window’s closed is certainly something that we’re looking at.”
