The Nintendo 3DS XL is large but still in charge once again in Japan according to the latest round of Media Create hardware sales.
The 3DS XL sold 36,306 units from the period of February 3rd to February 9th (with 26,042 units sold last week). The PlayStation Vita on the other hand sold 16,951 units this week, down from 20,457 units the previous week. The success of the 3DS this week could be attributed to the release of Dragon Quest Monsters 2, which debuted very strongly at more than 443,000 units sold this week.
PlayStation Vita TV continues to go down with 1,331 units sold this week compared to 1,789 units this week. The regular 3DS is also nipping close to the Vita’s heels with 12,002 units sold this week, up from 11,420 units the previous week. The PlayStation 3 managed to sell 10,240 units while the Wii U managed 7,180 units sold.
Nintendo will be hosting a new Direct session today which will provide more information on upcoming 3DS titles so stay tuned.
