Don’t ever let anyone tell you headphones are the best way to play. Even Tue absolute best “surround” headphones can’t come close to comparing to even a cheap $200 Walmart special surround setup. There is nothing more immersive for audio.

I started with a $400 Sony kit. It was a Dolby/DTS 5.1 receiver with all the speakers and a sub woofer. Over the years as I started earning more money i replaced pieces. I started by ditching the small front left and right speakers for 200wattt tower speakers that have speakers have highs mids and lows, then i replaced the 40w center channel for a larger 2 speaker 120w center, after that the 40w rear left and rights were replaced with larger 100w speakers and last but definitely not least I replaced the Sony 5.1 receiver for a pioneer HDMI capable 7.1 receiver.

Best gaming investment I have ever made. I currently run it in 5.1 but I could do 7.1 if I used 2 of my older speakers which I might do eventually but I’d really like to get 2 wireless speakers instead as its hard to hide wires for side channels.

The way only thing that could make my setup better is playing with an occulus rift which I will do once a consumer version launches. I also have to get a Morpheus for the ps4.
