Earlier this, a LinkedIn profile for a Bandai Namco employee revealed that he was working on unannounced IP exclusive to the Nintendo Switch which is also first person shooter. This was thought to be Metroid Prime 4 and today, Eurogamer spoke to multiple anonymous sources that confirmed Bandai Namco Studios Singapore is indeed developing the sequel.
Bandai Namco Studios Singapore is the lead studio for the game, working in collaboration with Nintendo. It houses former LucasArts Singapore members who worked on Star Wars 1313, a cancelled action title that went through many different iterations before Disney usurped the brand. As for Ridge Racer 8 on Switch, which the above employee also talked about working on, Eurogamer is yet to verify the same.
Not much is known about Metroid Prime 4 save for the logo that was unveiled during Nintendo’s E3 2016 Direct presentation. In its recent financial report, the company listed the release date “TBA”. That may not be significant unto itself – however, considering Pokemon Switch was given a “2018 or later” date, it makes you wonder if Metroid Prime 4 could arrive in 2019.
