Microsoft to switch off Halo 2 multiplayer for PC

The servers for the Xbox version was closed last year.

Halo 2 PC multiplayer will be shutdown by Microsoft next month, and in case you wonder haven’t they already, that was for Halo 2 Xbox version.

The community on the PC version wasn’t that big compared to the Xbox one and it is also a game remembered for promoting Windows Vista on the PC. The servers will be shutdown on February 15th, Microsoft has revealed.

Even the multiplayer achivements will be unobtainable after the servers are down.

“We’ve been monitoring the population for months, and it’s been peaking consistently at approximately 20 players or less,” reads Halo Waypoint site. “Those that own this game can continue to enjoy Multiplayer over LAN after that date; however our network services will be turned off at that time.

“We love you, Halo 2 PC, and you will live forever in our hearts. #singletear.”

Halo 2 PC was launched ages ago by Microsoft and is a game that is known for revolutionizing the mutliplayer on consoles, well, technically Halo: Combat Evolved did, but the maps here were better.
