It's not going to be 51fps looking at those options.

Of course it's amusing you don't know how checkerboarding works still.

This was my other comment just in case u missed it - It's not about the vertical or horizontal. Native is relative. A native 480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 1800p, 2160p or any resolution in between any of those numbers is still native IF AND ONLY IF there are no tricks used to boost the resolution itself. I get what ur saying in that it's not rock solid native 1080p or 4K. But that's like saying GT Sport isn't a 60fps game because it has dropped frames whereas Forza 7 doesn't drop a single frame so only that can be called a 60fps game. This is just not the case. They are both 60fps games, one just does it better and more consistently.

I know that there is CB and also a console level upscaler in some games. I don't think that part of the technology was ever in question or is relevant in what we've been discussing. Every game on the systems; whether it be on PS4 Pro where the sub 1080p Ark Survival Evolved, or sub 1300p Battlefront 2, native 1440p or 1800p title upscales to 4K on either system. 4K upscaling isn't the same as checkerboard rendering or dynamic resolution scaling.

So for Wolfenstein: TNO, sure it was upscaled to 1080p when the resolution dropped. This doesn't factor in when sites like DF do analysis because most display or output hardware does it. They only describe methods used by devs and the console itself to achieve a desired result.

it makes no sense to me. I could go into forza slap 6k set resolution to dynamic on my 1070 and performance target to 60fps. it isnt going to be hitting 6K much, it do it in the menus no problem, would you call that native 6K?

yeah i did and im saying the built in upscaler automatically boosts the resolution before it leaves the console. take 1800p checkerboard, it does the CB to 1800p then the consoles upscaler boosts it to 4K

yeah but a console has an upscaler built in so when it detects anything lower than a native signal it automatically boosts it

the signal is always "native" when it leaves the console, so sony and MS have total control over it without leaving it up to a TVs upscaler to do anything. TVs upscalers are not all the same some are good some are poor depending on what your TV is.

You got checkerboard, say it was 2160p CB, it would render 1920x2160 "upscale" it in the renderer and output 4K signal, wolfenstein when the resolution drops the upscaler handles it so signal that leaves is still 4K.

It's not about the vertical or horizontal.
