Amidst all the bad news for Nintendo lately, here’s a lone bright spot- along with Ocarina of Time 3D, which was reported to have sold in excess of million units worldwide yesterday, two more Nintendo games- Pokemon Black and White for the DS, the latest blockbuster installment in the long running franchise; and Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo’s latest evergreen entry in its long running mascot kart racer series- have shipped in excess of a million units in the past quarter, bringing up their lifetime sales totals to some impressive numbers.
This brings the grand total sales of Pokemon Black and White to 12.87 million units, just a few hundred thousand shy of the 13 million mark. Mario Kart Wii on the other hand has sold a staggering 28.23 million units, making it the highest selling non bundled game in history.
One has to wonder if the upcoming Mario Kart 7 will be able to replicate the success of Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii, both of which sold in excess of 20 million units.
