Minecraft, the breakout indie sandbox hit from Markus “Notch” Persson and Mojang, will be available soon as a retail disc for Xbox 360 in the UK. Developed by 4J Studios, the console version of the game will be available on June 28th and will offer those without an internet connection or the benefit of Xbox Live Gold to enjoy the experience for the first time.
What’s more, those who pick up the Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will also net a free 48 hour subscription for Xbox Live Gold. You’ll be able to experience just why the game is so damn popular online – oh, and there’s all this other stuff that you might want to check out. Netflix or something.
Minecraft can also be played via split-screen in co-op, both over Xbox Live and locally. So now you and a friend without access to internet or Xbox Live Gold will be able to dig your way through the pixelated lands of Mojang’s classic.
