Capcom’s Monster Hunter XX will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch in Japan this month. And while a Western release isn’t currently planned, a demo will be making its way to the Nintendo Eshop on August 10th. Thanks to the Switch’s region-free nature, Switch players around the world can try it out.
However, you’ll need to make a new account, choose the correct region and link it to your Switch before accessing the Eshop. It’s also worth noting that the demo will be in Japanese so unless you speak the language, don’t count on understanding everything. Still, as far as trying the gameplay out, it’s not the worst option.
Monster Hunter XX actually released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan earlier this year. As a meatier version of Monster Hunter Generations (or Monster Hunter X in Japan), players could hunt down new monsters, take on additional quests and much more.
Currently, there are no plans for either version to be localized in the West but that could change. Case in point, Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 coming to the Switch in late 2017 despite Capcom stating there were no plans for the franchise on Nintendo’s console.
