New Details for MGS V: Ground Zeroes

Kojima opens up about the mysterious game due early nest year.

When Kojima announced that Metal Gear Solid V would actually be split into two games, there was a lot of apprehension and confusion. Future details on Ground Zeroes, the first part of the fifth installment, furthered those feelings: it’d only be a few hours long? Intended to be a prologue sequence? Was there even any use in buying it? Why not skip it and go straight for The Phantom Pain, the real Metal Gear Solid V?

Well, Kojima recently opened up about the game in an interview with Famitsu, and we know a bit more about what the game is, and what it is intended to be: for instance, Kojima said that he views this game as the pre title sequence in a Hollywood blockbuster, where something major happens that catches your attention. He also said that the game is intended as a tutorial for The Phantom Pain (he used those exact words); also, Phantom Pain is the game that will feature and build on all the new stuff that Peace Walker introduced to the series. Ground Zeroes will either not have these at all, or have them in a highly limited capacity.

He also said that the save data in Ground Zeroes will carry over to The Phantom Pain, that players who get both will be rewarded, and that the reason the game was split this way was because of how long The Phantom Pain was taking to develop.

Personally, I am not sold on Ground Zeroes as a $20 or $30 purchase knowing all of that. What about you?
