The Xbox One has been continually improved upon since its initial launch, thanks to fixes targeted at not just the console’s OS via constant updates, but also the development tools, via SDK updates, and hardware configurations, by decoupling it from Kinect. Now, one more longstanding Xbox One issue, that of slow start up and connectivity times (right now, it takes five seconds for an Xbox One controller to synch up with your console upon startup) is being addressed, as Microsoft has released a new firmware update targeting specifically this issue.
Currently, this update is available only to Xbox preview members, though it should be released to everyone soon. If you want to check it out for yourself, Major Nelson has instructions on how to update your controller’s firmware.
Yes guys, even controllers are getting firmware updates now, this is what this generation has come to.
Maybe next time, you can release stuff that works to begins with.
