There’s a Nintendo Direct presentation airing in just few hours, which means we’re going to see various new announcements and updates on previously announced Switch games soon. Ahead of the show, however, leaks have begun to emerge, courtesy of Nintendo Japan’s own official schedule of Switch releases in the coming months and years.
One of the games mentioned in that schedule, interestingly enough, is a new Kirby game, which, according to Google Translate, will be called Kirby Discovery of the Stars in English (check out the screenshot below). Whether or not that will be the official localized name remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, other than the game’s existence, potential name, and its key art, not much else can be gleaned about it, though the schedule page does mention it will be out in Spring 2022. Clicking on the game’s name leads to a broken blog post link, though that’ll likely go up later today once the game has been officially unveiled (if that happens, that is… which it probably will).
The last new mainline Kirby game we got was Kirby Star Allies for the Nintendo Switch back in 2018, so a new Kirby game is definitely overdue. Thankfully, it looks like it’s going to be announced imminently.
Meanwhile, Nintendo’s schedule page also says that Bayonetta 3 will be launching in late 2022 at long last, suggesting that it could show up at the Direct later today. Read more on that through here.
