New Raiden Game Announced for Xbox One

Xbox One secures itself a Japanese exclusive.

You might not believe it, considering how badly the Xbox 360 does there, but Microsoft’s consoles get a fair amount of hardcore niche Japanese support, especially in the SHMUPs and visual novel genres. Today, Microsoft’s Xbox One managed to garner a fair bit of exclusive Japanese support for itself ahead of its launch there later this year. A fair few titles were announced, but one will probably stand out more than others.

Specifically, a new title in the classic Raiden action series that started out in arcades in 1990, was announced; the new game will purportedly celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise as well.

The previous game of the series, Raiden IV: Overkill, was released on the PlayStation 3; the new game, simply called Raiden, has only been announced for Xbox One so far, although it was never explicitly referred to as an exclusive.

The Xbox One launches later this year in Japan, alongside a fair few other markets as well, including India.
