New Unreal Tournament Game To Be Free, Won’t Have Microtransactions

Epic Games details the next Unreal Tournament.

Epic Games have finally announced the latest iteration in their long running Unreal Tournament franchise. Although it does not have a name yet, it will be completely free to play. But the real deal is that it will be without micro-transactions. Now, that should please a lot of fans who are against micro-transactions.

So how will Epic Games make money then? Epic Games plans to support its community by actually co-developing the game with them. They also plan to have in-game store where users can sell their custom content and Epic Games will take a cut out of it. This is a very unique business model and am not sure how many game publishers/developers have ever implemented such a system before. It remains to be seen whether this will be successful or no but regardless a big kudos to Epic Games for developing a community oriented game.

The new Unreal Tournament will be using Unreal Engine 4 and the developers will reveal new information soon. Let us know your thoughts and comments in the section below.
