Prime fans? Not just Prime fans.

Fans of the entire exploration adventure genre have been left in the dust. Now we have more power than you can shake a stick at, everyone and their grand!a is crapping out open world games as fast as the conveyer belt can go, and not a single damn studio wants to take the time to work actual progression design into their cash grab.

Design like metroid prime is a lost art, and I just can’t go back to the moronic brainless open world designs of before, no matter how good the graphics are.

How about some 4k game design.

I’m a huge prime fan and somehow I always thought it released closer to 2009 or 2010, for some reason.

The fact that they’re just porting Pokken Tournament to Switch, and putting the Sun/Moon sequel on 3DS instead of Switch, sends a powerful message that Game Freak couldn’t be more against the prospect of another 3D adventure in the franchise, be it mainline *or* spinoff…
After Battle Revolution turned out to be a battle sim, without any of Stadium’s mini-games or Colosseum/XD’s marvelous story-modes, I already had a very bleak outlook for the future of Pokemon console games, and for a full decade now I have yet to see any evidence to feel otherwise. In fact, this alone is *why* I didn’t pick up Sun/Moon… Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen, and Colosseum/XD marked a magical time to be a fan of the Pokemon video games, as beyond Colosseum/XD’s story mode, all 5 GBA games were compatible with Colosseum/XD to play head-to-head with friends while dazzling them with the GameCube’s cinematic presentation of the 386 Pokemon that existed up to that time. Battle Revolution still had that same charm for Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver players, but didn’t offer Player 1 any valid story mode when not playing against other players.

Though Black/White went on to be my 2nd-favorite Pokemon game in the entire series, the continued lack of a complimenting console experience was becoming significantly disheartening. By the time X/Y rolled in, I was no longer even liking the direction that the mainline series was taking, and the lack of a Wii U title to compliment X/Y made it, by proxy, a worse game, as X/Y is one of the ugliest-looking games on the 3DS platform and its Pokemon species could have benefited spectacularly from the Wii U’s HD resolutions and 360/PS3-level graphics. OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire went on to be the final Pokemon game I’d ever pick up, as they were the bittersweet revisiting of my favorite generation of the Pokemon series; they definitely weren’t better than the original, but still a massive improvement over X/Y and a plenty-serviceable whimsical finale for the Hoenn region.
From Pokemon Go’s existence (a crappy, unoptimized iOS/Android game developed by Niantic that Game Freak couldn’t even be bothered to compose music for) and Sun/Moon’s radical departure from traditional Gym Leaders, to the CONTINUED lack of any console battle experience for 10 years and lack of a story-driven console game in 12 years, Game Freak’s message couldn’t be clearer: The innovations of Generation 3 to have a full-RPG console spinoff and make VS battles between players of R/S/E/FR/LG more graphically immersive, while intuitive/engaging and do not erode any core gameplay mechanics, DOES NOT MATTER to Game Freak… They care more about innovating in ways that BREAK the core experience for older players, such as the per-battle Mega Evolutions introduced in X/Y, and removal of traditional gyms/gym-leaders in favor of island kahunas in Sun/Moon.

Pokemon is as dead to me now from Go and Sun/Moon onwards as Sonic is to fans of Sonic 1/CD/2/3/K (myself being a fan of Sonic Adventure/Adventure2/Heroes and for me the series had died with Colors onwards)

The Colosseum line could DEFINITELY use an HD remake or a sequel, though.

It would be neat to see him in the next prime game, though, probably not as the main antagonist but rather something like.. the ‘initial antagonist’ before you find an even bigger baddie, like how Zant was.
