Nintendo Increasing Nintendo Switch Production In Response To High Pre-Orders

No moe of Nintendo's infamous stock shortages?

Nintendo had originally announced shipments of 2 million for the Nintendo Switch for the month of March; however, pre-orders for the system have been generally selling out worldwide, indicating that there may be a higher demand for the product than Nintendo has inventory to meet. This would ordinarily have led to the kind of protracted stock shortages that Nintendo products are infamous for suffering- in just recent years, consider the New Nintendo 3DS, Amiibo, and the NES Classic Mini.

However, it seems like, much as they had promised before, Nintendo are now scaling up production for the Switch to meet the increased demand. According to what Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said at Nintendo’s investor meeting (via The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki), Nintendo Switch pre-orders so far are ‘good’, and Nintendo are planning on ramping up Switch production as a result.

Hopefully, this should mean that more people get the chance to pick up a system come launch day on March 3- especially since the Nintendo Switch will be the only viable way for most people to play the excellent, upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which launches right alongside the Switch, too.
