Nintendo Names Tatsumi Kimishima as New President

Former Nintendo of America boss will be appointed later this week.

After president Satoru Iwata suddenly passed away in July due to illness, Nintendo has announced its new president: Tatsumi Kimishima. As boss of Nintendo of America and having experience in the Pokemon Company, Kimishima was replaced by Reggie Fils-Aime. He’ll begin his new role as president of the company later this week.

Prior to Kimishima’s appointment, Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda functioned as acting presidents in the meantime. Kimishima has been credited with the success of the Nintendo Wii and has had a key role in several Nintendo titles like Mario 5 to 8, Metroid Prime, Mario Golf Advanced Tour and Toadstool Tour and much more. In terms of experience, he’s been associated with Nintendo in some way or another since becoming the Pokemon Company’s CFO in 200.
