That the Switch has been a success is not something anyone doubts anymore. The console has set sales records worldwide, and managed to outsell the Wii U’s entire lifetime sales in jut ten months. It also has some of the most acclaimed games of all time (already!) on it, and it’s not even a full year old.
But the true mark of its success lies in its overall games library, beyond just its tentpole titles- and on that front, the Switch is trouncing everything else. Kotaku is reporting that, 279 days into their release, the Switch already has three times as many games as the Wii U did at an equivalent point in its life- incredibly enough, in spite of this volume, it also has higher rated games and better received ones than the Wii U’s smaller pool.
But the Wii U is not the only system the Switch is beating on this front- the number of games on Switch 279 days after launch is also more than the number of games on PS4 and Xbox One 279 days after launch. It’s a little insane, and it goes on to show us just how much recognition Nintendo’s hybrid has managed to garner from developers so soon after launch.
