Nintendo Switch Online Could Add Game Boy Titles “Really Soon” – Rumour

A new rumour claims that the Nintendo Switch's online subscription service will soon be adding Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.

Though it’s been around for a while, Nintendo Switch Online hasn’t done an excellent job of making a great case for value for money. Though subscriber numbers have been going up steadily, even with free games such as Tetris 99 and the like and access to select NES and SNES games, there are many who feel Nintendo needs to add more content to the service to make it worth the price of entry.

According to a new rumour, that could happen soon. Known insider NateDrake recently uploaded a podcast episode in which he, alongside co-host MVG, said that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games could soon be added to the Nintendo Switch Online library. The origin of this rumour is a datamine of the Switch’s NES files from a couple of years ago, which revealed multiple emulators in the app, one of which is believed to be for the Game Boy.

Additionally, Nintendo Life also states that according to their sources, Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles will be added to the service’s catalog “really soon.” There’s no word on whether Game Boy Advance games are also going to be added, but right now, it’s looking unlikely.

This is, of course, still unconfirmed, so take it with a grain of salt. That said, what with Nintendo looking to increase Nintendo Switch Online’s appeal, a move like this would make a lot of sense, and please a lot of people. We’ll let you know should we learn anything else, so stay tuned.
