The final weeks of a year always see significant surges in sales of consoles and games, and the Switch is enjoying some truly impressive figures this year. Not only did it sell very well in the UK over Black Friday, and is enjoying sales surge in Japan, it’s also – in line with prior reports – seeing excellent sales in the US.
Nintendo have confirmed via a press release that during Thanksgiving week in the US, the Switch sold 830,000 units, making it the best week ever for the Switch in the US, in terms of sales. Nintendo cited the Switch Lite’s release and several Black Friday offers and bundles as reasons for these high sales.
The press release also provides updated software sales figures. Pokemon Sword and Shield – which sold 6 million worldwide at launch – have sold over 3 million in the Americas.
New sales figures for other games in the region have also been provided, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe standing at 8.5 million, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 8 million, Super Mario Odyssey at 6.5 million, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe at 1.5 million.
