Nightdive Studios is best known for modernizing popular games such as the likes of Turok, Shadow Man, and PowerSlave Exhumed. The studio is currently hard at work on the upcoming System Shock remake, and CEO Stephen Kick has also revealed his desire of remastering a Nintendo game.
Replying to a user on Twitter, Kick talked about how Nintendo is excessively shy of working with third-party developers for its games. He revealed that the team has had multiple discussions with Nintendo on this topic to sadly no avail, even though Turok (an N64 title) was remastered by Nightdive themselves. If given the choice, Kick would want to remaster 2002’s psychological horror Eternal Darkness.
The conversation kickstarted when a Twitter user expressed their concerns about the recent announcement of the 3DS and Wii U eShop closures. Of course, given Nintendo’s stubborn nature with regards to its business strategies, its seems highly unlikely that this conversation will bear any fruit in the future. One can certainly hope, though.
