Team Ninja, along with publisher Koei Tecmo, have announced a sequel to the Nioh games. Appropriately titled Nioh 3, the game was unveiled with a trailer during Sony’s recent State of Play showcase. Check it out below.
The trailer for Nioh 3 focused quite a bit on the title’s story, with a narrator talking about Spirit Stones, and how these stones often tend to be the impetus for massive battles that often tend to take place throughout the games. The narration is paired with evocative imagery that gives us a look at some of the Oni invasion, before the trailer switches to showcasing gameplay.
As for the gameplay itself, Nioh 3 will seemingly offer players more of the same from the previous game, along with one major new addition – the Ninja style, which allows players to more easily traverse the world and take enemies down with quick strikes and ninja tools. Nioh 3 will also be taking on more of an open-world structure.
Nioh 3 is slated for release in early 2026 for PS5 and PC. In the meantime, console players can check out the free demo available now.
