Very few games at E3 were as impressive as No Man’s Sky. It had space ships, dinosaurs, and a procedurally generated universe that is, according to developer Hello Games, pretty much infinite. Sounds like the perfect game for PC, right? Well, a PC release just might be coming. Someday.
When Sean Murray, Hello Games’ managing director, took the stage at Sony’s E3 press conference, he announced that No Man’s Sky would make its console debut on PlayStation 4. Roughly translated, this means that a PC release is possible the same day, as is release on other consoles at a later date. Unfortunately, a day and date PC release is unlikely given Murray’s recent interview with Eurogamer, were he stated that Hello Games is a pretty small team.
“The wording is we’re doing a console debut on PS4. The thing that that leaves open is a PC version,” Murray said. “If I’m honest, we’re taking on quite a lot at the moment. We’re definitely coming to PS4. I would like to come to PC. Whether that arrives the same day – we’re a small team!”
It’s not surprising to see Hello Games focusing on a PS4 release right now, but it is nice to see that Murray wants to bring No Man’s Sky to PC. An Xbox One release is possible too, but Hello Games seems reluctant to talk about that at the moment.
Oh, well. Maybe someday.
