After years of hype, No Man’s Sky released to a whole lot of disappointment, with the game missing most of the features that had been promised for it, and with Sean Murray, one of the lead developers on the game, disappearing entirely from the public eye, and from social media entirely, shortly after the game launched.
However, on the inaugural episode of his new show on YouTube, Geoff Keighley decided to delve deep into this year’s most controversial video game, noting that the development team had Hello Games had been reluctant to let Keighley too near the team- especially after Keighley voiced his disagreement with the decision to price the game $60.
Keighley also openly called the game disappointing, which was, in large part, due to Murray’s reluctance to be open with fans, Keighley feels. That said, however, Keighley says that Sean Murray is open to appearing on the new show in October, which would mark his first public appearance and his first statement since his disappearing act upon the release of the game.
The entire episode is worth watching- especially if you are interested in learning what exactly happened with the game during its development (which I imagine a lot of the people who purchased the game, and feel burned by it are), and if you are interested in supporting actual investigative games journalism. Keighley is as charismatic as ever, too- hopefully he can get Murray to show up on the show later.
