No Man’s Sky Has Huge And Rare Creatures Waiting To Be Discovered, Over 160,000 Discoveries Made Already

There is more to this universe than you might think.

No Man’s Sky is a game ostensibly about the joy and wonder of exploration and discovery- and it looks like people are obsessively buying into Hello Games’ vision. Speaking on Reddit in an AMA, co-founder Sean Murray noted that the game seems to have had 160,000 discoveries made already- more importantly, this number is from before the game had officially launched, meaning that it’s probably higher by several orders of magnitude by this point.

Discoveries in No Man’s Sky include planets, individual landmarks on planets, such as forests and deserts, as well as species of native lifeforms. You can, as you might expect, rename everything to what you want, if you discover it.

Murray also noted that there are huge and rare creatures waiting in the game that so far, no one has managed to find. Coming across them and dying to the unexpectedly sounds like something I’d want to experience, to add to the threat and mystery of deep space exploration.

No Man’s Sky is available now on PlayStation 4, with a release on PC coming later this week.
