Microsoft’s Xbox One was the top-selling console in the United States for December 2014 according to the NPD Group’s latest report. However, the best-selling platform of the year is the PlayStation 4 which sold 18.5 million units worldwide since launching in November 2013.
An SCEA rep told GameSpot that, “We are humbled by this success and want to thank gamers worldwide for helping us achieve holiday sales of more than 4.1 million across 123 countries and regions. We are looking forward to another momentous year in 2015 and bringing an epic line up of titles to PlayStation fans around the world.”
The PlayStation 4 has quite the quarter ahead with The Order: 1886 and Bloodborne set to release in February and March respectively. It also has Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End coming by year end. How Sony fills the gap in between remains to be seen but it won’t have to worry about console sales any time soon. Thoughts on the matter? Let us know in the comments.
