I think the reason why they are rushing out these GPU's this year is because Volta is rumoured to be released for consumer 2H 2017 instead of 2018 so they need the full line up released this year so its a good year between products.

Could well be that the Volta or GV104 will be about 450mm2 and the Volta titan GV102 be the full 600mm2 die which will use up the 16nm node then they can prepare for 10nm for 2018 which should give them maybe 50% extra density where they will do GV204/202/etc i.e. 2nd gen of those cards.

I think if AMD isnt careful they are going to get severely out gunned.

Good article...personally I'm waiting for the 1080ti to see what that delivers, but in all likelihood I'll skip the Titan X and the 1080ti and wait for Nvidia's first Volta cards and Intel's CannonLake cpu's to build out a new pc, which will probably be sometime fall of 2017.

Good stuff. I think the Scorpio will be able to run 4k @30fps on most games. Maybe 4k 60 if the visuals are lower, like a Madden or sumthin (afterall, Madden runs 1080p 60fps on both X1 and PS4). So I wouldn't be upset. I just want the OPTION, to tweak settings. Other than that, any console gamers thinking Scorpio will offer Titan X like performance........forgetaboutit. But hey I don't need that much performance. My life is about balance, and I have money to spend, but not that dam much lmao
