Oculus Rift Comments On Component Shortages Causing Shipping Delays

"We hope to beat the new estimates we’ve provided."

The OculusRift launch has been rocky, and there are many who still haven’t received their Oculus Rift headsets- delays for the pioneering VR headset abound, attributed mostly to a component shortage that is seeing some customers’ orders get delayed by as many as 3 months.

In a statement released to GamingBolt, Oculus has responded to these shortages, noting that they impacted production more than expected, and that Oculus hopes to stick to shipping deadlines going forward.

“The component shortage impacted our quantities more than we expected, and we’ve updated the shipment window to reflect these changes. We apologize for the delay,” they said.

“We’re delivering Rifts to customers every day, and we’re focused on getting Rifts out the door as fast as we can. We’ve taken steps to address the component shortage, and we’ll continue shipping in higher volumes each week. We’ve also increased our manufacturing capacity to allow us to deliver in higher quantities, faster. Many Rifts will ship less than four weeks from original estimates, and we hope to beat the new estimates we’ve provided.”

The Oculus Rift is available now for $599.
