The launch of Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive has not been smooth- both headsets have been made available in extremely limited quantities, and even those who pre-ordered have not always necessarily been guaranteed to get their kit on time.
This problem is most acute with Oculus Rift, which is delaying customers’ shipments by as many as 1-3 months. Users are reporting that they are getting emails indicating that their orders have been delayed, because of component shortages causing delays in manufacturing and shipping.
For a lot of these people, who are enthusiast customers who have followed VR since before it started getting mainstream hype, and possibly going all the way back to the original Kickstarter for Oculus all those years ago, this delay almost certainly stings, and there is a scathing case to be made that Oculus should have handled the launch far better. Nonetheless, at the very least, they can take heart in knowing that they will not receive a substandard product, and that when they do receive it, the Oculus Rift will probably be every bit the revolution that they have dreamed it will be.
