Those who thought the price tag for the Oculus Rift might somehow blunt the desire for the Virtual Reality device may line up to the left in order to wait to eat your crow. Earlier this week, it was announced the device was going to be selling for $599 which set some people aback. At the same time, there seemed to be some genuine excitement that the general public actually had an official price tag to go on.
The general public was actually really, really excited, since the day one stock of the Oculus Rift ended up selling out in less than a quarter of an hour. VRFocus claims the message that the device would be shipping in March, changed to April just 14 minutes after it went live. This seems to indicate that the day one stock was snapped up just that quickly. Of course, it should be pointed out that while people are going to have to wait for the Oculus Rift for another month, it’s likely there are going to be plenty of people willing to wait that extra 30 days in order to get their hands on it.
People who are purchasing the device will either get a Xbox One controller bundled with the Rift. Now that the company has actually announced when people can get their hands on the device and the price, we’re likely to start learning quite a bit more about the Oculus Rift soon.
