Early consumers of Oculus Rift should see the VR headset arriving soon.
Oculus CEO Brenden Iribe confirmed on Twitter that Rift’s consumer version had already begun shipping with deliveries due for March 28th. If you had a chance to snag an early version of the same, then you’ll be receiving it fairly quickly.
The announcement is significant because Rift’s popularity in pre-order sales means different consumers will receive it at different times. Some will receive their unit as late as June in some cases.
Oculus Rift retails for $599 and will include motion controllers and a USB IR LED sensor along with the base headset. It will mark the beginning of the VR era in many ways with HTC Vive out in April and Sony’s PlayStation VR arriving in October 2016. Have you ordered a Rift?
