One-Third of PlayStation Vita Games Sold Are Digital – Sony

Customers slowly but surely embracing digital medium of playing.

In the same interview where he revealed that Telltale’s The Walking Dead would be coming to the handheld, PlayStation Director of Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation Don Mesa told IGN that one-third of all games sold on the PlayStation Vita were digital.

Mesa stated that, “Our users are embracing the PlayStation Store on the device and finding it very easy to download and get their games on their device and start playing.”

He also acknowledged that there was some negative sentiment regarding the PS Vita. However, apparently 86 percent of owners were happy with their purchases, playing them 18.7 hours a week. He also stated the Vita would see over a 100 games release this year.

The PS Vita has been on a down-slide since its very release. Criticisms against the device include lack of exclusives, high price and unnecessary features like the rear touchpad. A price cut in Japan helped raise sales temporarily.
