Origin Servers Down Due to DDOS Attacks

All EA multiplayer titles affected.

EA’s Origin, along with several other services such as Steam, are down following a direct denial of service (DDoS) attack that has affected all EA games. This means that the digital store is offline and any multiplayer activity linked to Origin is currently down. So if you haven’t been able to connect to Battlefield 4 or Star Wars: The Old Republic, here’s why.

Derp, a hacker group, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Though a competent reason wasn’t provided at first, it seems that Origin was attacked due to being seen as an unnecessary service due to Steam’s existence.

EA has acknowledged the problems via Twitter and has assured players that it is looking into the same. As of now, there’s no updates as to when Origin will be back online. What are your thoughts on the recent series of DDoS attacks? Let us know in the comments below and we’ll keep you updated as to when Origin will be back online.
