It’s hard to remember a time when Overwatch 2 wasn’t mired in controversy, and criticisms surrounding the game has only grown more widespread as time has gone on, whether that’s because of its controversial PvE changes, its monetization approach, its lack of promised features, or any number of other issues. And that, unsurprisingly, is being reflected not only in a dwindling playerbase, but also in overwhelming criticism from those who’re sticking around.
Overwatch 2 Season 6: Invasion recently launched, going hand-in-hand with the game’s release on Steam, and its debut on Valve’s platform hasn’t been met with the sort of reception Blizzard Entertainment would have been hoping for from its first ever Steam release.
At the time of writing, Overwatch 2 has an Overwhelmingly Negative user reviews rating on Steam, with over 100,000 user ratings, of which only 9% are positive. That makes it the worst-reviewed game in Steam’s history. It did, however, attract decent amount of players upon its Steam release, hitting a peak concurrent user count of over 75,000 players, as per SteamDB.
Overwatch 2 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Head on over here for details on Season 6’s content roadmap.
