Paragon: PS4 Resolution Bump From 900p To 1080p Is Not Being Ruled Out

Plus, the team also plans to support DirectX 12 in the future.

Paragon is Epic Games’ next big thing- they are currently hard at work on the team based shooter/MOBA hybrid, and while I think that there are far too many MOBAs on the market right now, it is hard to deny just how great Paragon looks, especially to those with even a passing interest in shooters.

It is due out on the PS4 in addition to PC, making it the latest in a long line of MOBA or MOBA like games that also attempt to work on consoles- but it won’t be running on the system without compromises, either. The graphically stunning game will run at a solid 60fps, but it will be taking a hit to its resolution, running at 900p.

When GamingBolt had a chance to talk to Steve Superville, Creative Director of Paragon, we decided to ask him if there is any chance that this may change between now and the game’s final release on the PS4. According to Superville? It could happen, though Epic can’t and won’t commit to it right now.

“Our engine team is constantly updating Unreal Engine 4 and optimizing, so while we have nothing to announce or anything specifically planned, I can’t rule it out,” he said. He also added that Epic do have plans to launch a DirectX 12 build for the game in the future, for the PC version. “Yes, we plan to support DX12 in the future,” we said.

That may indicate a UWP version of the title too, at which point putting it on Xbox One isn’t much of a stretch. For now, however, Paragon is due out on PC, and on consoles, exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
