Persona 5: The Animation’s OVA, Dark Sun, Airs on December 30

This post will have Persona 5 spoilers, so only read it at your own risk.

As I’m sure you all know, there was a Persona 5 anime. However, unlike the Persona 4 anime, which was legitimately good on its own merits, and actually added to the Persona 4 story, the Persona 5 anime was a train wreck. Not only were crucial plot points and character moments rushed through, but the two dozen plus episode series ends—and Persona 5 spoilers follow from this point on, so stop reading if you haven’t yet finished the game—at the moment that the traitor seemingly kills Joker.

If you have played the game, you know exactly how much comes after this point. The whole third act of the game, including the Phantom Thieves taking on the corrupt politician Shido, as well as unmasking Akechi as the traitor, as well as taking on Jaldabaoth, who has manipulated society and cast them under subservience, comes after this point. It’s a good 20-30 hours of gameplay. And it’s all been left for one OVA, which will cover the story from this point on.

That OVA is called Dark Sun, and it will air on December 30. My only hope is this doesn’t cover everything, and we actually get another OVA to cover more of the story later. You can check the announcement trailer below.
