Sony continues demonstrating its absolute mastery over not just the online space, but also its ability to keep third party content secure on its servers. After the recent leak of Grand Theft Auto V over the PSN Store, Sony mistakenly put a demo for PES 2014 on their storefront early before the error was noticed and the 1.3 GB file pulled, reports CVG.
The demo was supposed to be available on the PS3 on September 11, and on the Xbox 360 September 12, anyway. It is supposed to contain several teams in a full match mode, alongside a tutorial.
PES 2014 launches September 20 on the PS3, and September 24 on the Xbox 360. The game, which is supposed to represent a dramatic series overhaul, built as it is on Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine, is supposed to be a return to form for the once premier soccer sim series. It goes head to head with EA Sports’ genre top dog FIFA 14, which launches September 24 on both platforms in the US, and September 27 in Europe.
This represents Sony’s second high profile leak or online related error in less than a month; they probably want to get their act together ahead of the PS4 launch, or Microsoft and Xbox Live will continue to outpace them in this area.
