Microsoft won the American sales battle for the second month straight, NPD reported yesterday, and in large part of this probably owes itself to Microsoft making a series of aggressive moves in the US designed specifically to push as much of the system as possible. But as well as the Xbox One is now finally doing in the region, it is performing dismally worldwide (apart from maybe UK)- and this has always been true of the Xbox brand historically.
Responding to the Xbox victory, Xbox executive Phil Spencer was understandably elated at news of Xbox One doing well, but he also promised that they would not lose sight of trying to ensure Xbox One did well worldwide.
“Today was an NPD day and our US announce but we know Xbox fans are global and we need to focus on WW value,” he said on his Twitter.
If he follows through on this, it will actually be a first for Xbox, but on the other hand, we need a global competitor to PlayStation, just because it is good for us in the end. Let’s hope Spencer’s team can manage that.
