Pikmin 4 was originally announced last year out of nowhere, and it was suggested that the game may actually be very close to completion, and therefore, to release- however, speaking to GameRant, Nintendo’s legendary Shigeru Miyamoto today provided an update on the game, suggesting that it may have been put on the backburner for a while there.
“You know, when we’re in development we have to create a list of priorities and it has been hard to kind of fit [Pikmin 4] into that list,” he said. “But we’re hopefully starting to see that on the list now.”
One can guess what those other priorities may have been- games such as Zelda, as well as other games for the Nintendo NX, for one thing. Maybe some of Nintendo’s mobile games initiatives, for another- all of these are projects far more vital to the survival of Nintendo than Pikmin would be. So one can see why the game would be glanced over in favor of other projects. That said, it is good to see that Nintendo have not yet forgotten about it, either.
