Pikmin 3_Wii U (4)

Believe it or not, Nintendo is actually pretty close to finishing development on Pikmin 4.

This fact was revealed by designer Shigeru Miyamoto to Eurogamer, though the interview itself took place in July. “It’s actually very close to completion. Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”

It should be noted that Miyamoto didn’t say which platforms Pikmin 4 would be releasing on. Nintendo, for its part, confirmed that Pikmin 4 was indeed happening though it didn’t offer any more information.

News of Pikmin 4 comes at an interesting time – Nintendo is currently working on its next platform, codenamed the NX, and Pikmin 3 released back in 2013 for the Wii U. Whether the fourth game comes to the NX next year remains to be seen but it’s more likely it ends up on the Wii U as well. Stay tuned for more information on the same and let us know in the comments if you’re looking forward to Pikmin 4.
