PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Tops 2 Million Peak Concurrent Players

The Battle Royale title hits another significant milestone since launching in March.

The popularity of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds seemingly can’t be stopped. After beating out Dota 2 to become the number one most played game on Steam and averaging over 1 million peak concurrent players, it’s hit a new milestone: 2 million concurrent peak players.

A brief glance over at the Steam Stats page says it all with 2,016,498 peak concurrent players in the past 24 hours. With Steam Spy pegging the game as selling over 15 million units on Steam, it stands to reason that the concurrent player count will only go up from here.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds arrived on Steam Early Access in March this year and despite overall mixed reviews on its store page, it’s risen astronomically in terms of popularity. So much so that Microsoft has struck a deal with developer Bluehole to bring the Battle Royale title to Xbox One later this year via the Game Preview program. Of course, Bluehole is also rumoured to be in talks with Sony to release a PS4 version somewhere down the line.
