PlayStation 4 New Details: Console And Controller Weight Compared To PS3 And HDD Data Speed

How does the PS4 compare to the PS3? Find out here.

German Magazine ComputerBild is currently analyzing a debug unit of the PlayStation 4, and has revealed many new details for the same.

The DualShock 4 reportedly weighs 214, with the DualShock 3 controller weighing 190 grams in comparison. The debug unit itself weighed 2,764 grams. The console itself measures 30.5 x 27.6 x 5.4 cm (width x depth x height).

It has also been revealed that the PS4 only has support for HDMI. So those looking to plug their console into their old CRT screens will be out of luck. All hail the age of HD. The screws holding the console together, which look fairly cool, have been dissected further. The screws holding the HDD in place require Phillips screw-drivers while the other fixations can be opened using a special Torx screwdriver.

The hard disk speed is also revealed to be capable of speeds in the range of 80 to 100 MB per second, with noise levels coming in around 0.83 Sone. The PS3’s noise levels come in at 2.1 Sone by comparison, which is pretty loud all things considered.

Stay tuned for more details as they arrive.
