PlayStation 5 Gets Voice Commands, Better Music Control UI in Latest System Software Update

The latest update also gives PlayStation VR2 users more control over what's being shown when they broadcast their gameplay.

A new system software update for the PlayStation 5 has been released. Numbered at update 23.02-08.20.00.06, the update is a weighty one, coming in at 1.185GB. The update brings with it a few new features, including some fixes to the interface for users of the PlayStation VR2.

As part of the update, PS5 users can now more easily control their music, with the music control centre now getting a two-column layout that allows for easier browsing of playlists, categories and songs.

The update is also bringing with it a new voice control feature for English-speaking users with PlayStation Network accounts in either the U.S. or U.K. Using the feature, players can say “What’s new?” through voice command on any screen, which will have the PS5 show the user its newest features.

PlayStation VR2 users can now avoid accidentally broadcasting their surroundings while broadcasting their VR gameplay. The Settings screen now has an option that allows players to block see-through view on TV, preventing the camera see-through image from being displayed on the TV.
