Sony has been taking its time rolling out important details for the PlayStation 5 like its price, design and release date. However, it seems that at least one of those has been leaked. According to a job listing for Sony on Rikunabi for what seems to be a materials procurement manager (spotted by Nibel on Twitter), the console is “scheduled to be released in October 2020.” This is per a quick translation of the first paragraph.
Of course, this should be taken with a grain of salt. The listing could have been made a while back before the COVID-19 pandemic and Sony may have changed plans since then. There’s also that tiny bit about the console always being marketed as launching in Holiday 2020, which could be from mid-November to late December.
Of course, we can’t help but be skeptical that the release month would so casually be revealed in an online job listing. Regardless, until Sony offers more clarification – or some kind of event to actually update us on the console’s progress – we’ll have to wait for more details. Stay tuned in the meantime.
