PlayStation Had Its Biggest Black Friday Ever, Says Sony Exec

That's across PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4- whew, lad.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Senior Vice President and Head of PlayStation Network Eric Lempel has confirmed to CNBC that this Black Friday was the biggest Black Friday PlayStation has ever had- bear in mind, his statement does not reference just the PS4. It means that this Black Friday was the most successful Black Friday that the PlayStation brand has ever had, period.

That includes the original PlayStation, the PS2, the PS3, and the PSP and PS Vita- across over 20 years of PlayStation, this was their most successful Black Friday. It is unclear whether he meant in terms of revenue or unit sales- but either way, it would be an incredible accomplishment.

PlayStation was buoyed, no doubt, by the incredible deals on offer for the PS4 Slim, as well as the PSVR, not to mention the continued sales of the PS4 Pro, and sales of a lot of anticipated software, including Call of Duty: World War 2. Was all of this enough for it to win against the Xbox, which had the launch of the Xbox One X this November, and the Nintendo Switch, which is the Nintendo Switch? I’m going to say yes: but no matter who comes out on top this Holiday season, it is clear all three consoles ended up doing abundantly well.
