PlayStation Plus 12-Month Subscription Prices Are Increasing Starting September 6

Starting September 6, 12-month subscriptions for PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium will cost $80, $135, and $160 respectively.

PlayStation Plus will be receiving significant price hikes in about a week’s time. Sony has announced that started September 6, prices will be increased for 12-month subscriptions for all three PlayStation Plus tiers.

Currently, 12-month subscriptions of PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium cost $59.99, $99.99, and $119.99 respectively. After September 6, the prices will be raised to $79.99 for PS Plus Essential (a $20 increase), $134.99 for PS Plus Extra, (a $35 increase), and $159.99 for PS Plus Premium (a $40 increase).

“This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service,” wrote Adam Michel, director and content acquisition and operations at PlayStation. “The new prices for the 12-Month subscription will remain at a discounted rate when compared to purchasing the 1-Month or 3-Month subscriptions over a 12-month period.”

Prices for 1-month and 3-month subscriptions for all three tiers will remain the scene, while the price changes won’t reflect for existing 12-month subscribers until November 6. Any time you renew your subscription after that, you’ll have to pay the revised price.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen prices being increased for a subscription service in recent months. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced a price hike in subscriptions for Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in several regions around the world. Read more on that through here.
