Sony Computer Entertainment has announced a firmware update for its PlayStation Vita handheld. Version 2.06 will reportedly improve “system software stability with some features” and…well, that’s it really.

It’s an interesting bit of news because of the lack of anything interesting. With a price cut and improved sales in Japan, you’d think Sony would be taking more steps to make its handheld better. More games, XMB – anything. Regardless, firmware updates are nothing new and this should at best be taken with a “meh”.
The PlayStation Vita was released in Japan in December 2011 but reached North America and Europe in February 2012. Hard to believe it’s already been a year with the PS Vita, but there it is. The expensive launch price initially stifled it, and it currently suffers from a lack of exclusives and must-play games.
