Exact numbers on the PlayStation VR have been hard to come by, and in their press release sharing sales milestones from yesterday, Sony refused to touch upon specifics for how the PlayStation VR has performed. In general, however, the product is believed to have not necessarily set the charts on fire, even if it has met Sony’s expectations.
Speaking at the Sony CES keynote in Los Angeles, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai stressed that the PlayStation VR had had a ‘great start,’ although, again, he neglected to share specific numbers. “PlayStation VR launched last October and gave us a great start also through the Holiday Season as well. So with PlayStation VR we’re able to provide you dramatic, transformational new gaming experience, and our ambitions for VR aren’t limited just to gaming,” he said.
Of course, that’s a bit hard to believe, given that Sony refused to show off much in the way of meaningful in house support for the new product at the PlayStation Experience- hopefully they have meaningful PlayStation VR games from their leading teams lined up, waiting to be debuted soon.
